Groundworks Foreman

L and W Wilson is a Groundworks and Civil engineering company based in Cumbria which has been established for over 40 years. We are looking for an experienced Groundworks Foreman to join ourselves to lead our teams for projects throughout Cumbria and North Lancashire

You will be required to oversee all aspects of Groundworks – Drainage, Concrete pours, road construction, Paving, Kerbing. SMSTS/CSCS/CPCS cards would be advantageous.

Your role will include organising the team of groundworkers’ day to day tasks as well as the following.

  1. Ensure that work is carried out to meet the relevant quality standard and that safe working practices are followed
  2. Complete all relevant paperwork required by both the client and the company.
  3. Liaising with the Quantity Surveyors to ensure that accurate records are kept and only carry out the works instructed

Trainee Parts & Stores Person / Administrator

The Role

L&W Wilson (Endmoor) Ltd require a Trainee Parts & Stores Person Administrator

This role would suit a 16-18-year-old with an interest in machinery whom is IT literate.

It is a responsible and diverse role as, following training you will be ordering parts for wagons, vans, plants & machinery, taxing vehicle’s and, following further training, ordering fuel for a large commercial fleet.

As a trainee store and parts person, you will be responsible for assisting in organising the daily goods in and goods out activities and supporting the demands of the workshop.

This is a full-time role working Monday to Friday, and Saturday’s when required.

Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer

We currently recruiting for a Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Setting out Groundwork project throughout North Lancashire and Cumbria 
  • Manage your own work load over various sites and projects
  • Assist the Project Manager / Site Agents with site records and permits as appropriate
  • Communicate setting out control and provide information to assist with the construction of works
  • Carry out pre-start OGL surveys, reduce level survey and use CAD software to obtain setting out information. 
  • Assist the Quantity Surveyors by produce drawings and volume calculations
  • Ensure setting out equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.

 Candidate

  • The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and driven and to have pride in your workmanship. Have good communication skills to liaise with multiple members of the organisation from the MD to site operative.  
  • Qualified to degree / Industry standard. 
  • Applicants will have a proven record of setting out on Groundworks projects including earthworks, deep drainage, highways and foundations. You must be capable of producing accurate AsBuilt drawings and survey drawing for records.
  • Applicants should hold a CSCS card and have at least 2+ years site experience. A competitive salary will be offered.

Tyre Fitter & General workshop duties

Hours Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:30pm, occasional Saturdays

Duties to include

  • Keeping the working areas clear and tidy
  • Fitting tyres
  • Greasing vehicles & plant
  • Call-outs during working hours
  • Mechanical experience is not essential
